JPO Rules and Responsibilities
Captains
- in charge of his/her squad; responsible for all posts on AM/PM duty (curbside, bugle, flag, cafe crosswalk, Poko Rd., A and B building morning patrol).
- assigns other officers/privates to posts.
- must dress appropriately.
- can recommend strike for misbehavior to adult advisors.
Lieutenants
- plays bugle tape at the morning and end of the day.
- helps captain; steps in for captain if he/she is absent.
- helps captain manage posts (curbside, bugle, flag, cafe crosswalk, Poko Rd., A and B building patrol).
- must dress appropriately.
- can recommend strike for misbehavior to adult advisors.
Sergeants
- helps captain and lieutenant; steps in for lieutenant if he/she is absent
- responsible for flag (up, down, folding).
- puts away cones; keeps JPO room neat/organized; hangs up raincoats; turn off lights; shuts door.
- must dress appropriately.
- can recommend strike for misbehavior to adult advisors.
JPOs (patrolmen) – When on duty…
- should remain focused at all times; NO PLAYING AROUND!
- must enforce school rules to insure safety of all students.
- must uphold image of the JPO Program and Webling Elem. School.
- must dress appropriately.
 
JPO Dress Code
- all JPOs must dress appropriately while on duty.
- covered shoes; NO SLIPPERS! NO SANDALS!
- JPO shirt, Webling Elem. Shirt, or solid color shirt; NO TANK TOPS!
- Girls - skirts or “skorts”. Boys - khaki, blue or black shorts or long pants.
 
Attendance/Tardies
- 3 unexcused absents within a week = 1 STRIKE and JPO room clean up
- 3 unexcused tardies within a week = WARNING and JPO room clean up
 
Drill Practices
- This is mandatory! Once a week, 9:40 – 9:55 (first recess); day: Thursday
- HPD Officer / JPO advisor will attend to advice
- missed practice = 1 WARNING; 3 WARNINGS = 1 STRIKE.
 
Leadership Meetings
- This is mandatory! Leadership is once a month in the cafeteria.
- meet to practice drill and pass on information.
- not cleared on that day = 1 STRIKE and sit on the side or stay in homeroom.
 
Strikes and Warnings
- 3 strikes in one quarter and you’re released from the program (can not join any Leadership group)
- Strikes/warnings are given for misconduct and violation of rules.
- Constant warnings will lead to a STRIKE
- Strikes given for not being cleared for Leadership meetings and repeated unexcused absents from weekly practices.
- Automatic strikes given for office referrals or Ch.19 offenses.
